This mall has an excellent opportunity to adapt to a mix use village/town lifestyle concept. LWR missed it’s chance. With such an excellent location, how come this doesn’t turn into a “live-work” concept with a village theme. Lofts or 2 story condo’s on top of retail is an excellent fit. There is noting like this in the area and it’s proven worthwhile in many cities/towns across the country. LWR main street had the right idea but it’s quite small but they’ll now be doing it next to Shoreview/Watercrest which is now being developed. Seattle, Pittsburgh, Miami, and even Boston have been successful at re-adaptive use. Palmer Ranch is a great address, minutes to everything. Millennials have been shown to prefer the walk-able communities. There is a market here for this and if you need proof, just look at downtown’s Rosemary District. On a separate note, imagine if UTC, and The Benderson Town Center would throw up a monorail around that shopping corridor and add condo’s or lofts in the perimeter of the commercial area of this location, (as in on top of the businesses) just think of how less the traffic would strain this area. Get smart Commercial entities, try to think outside of the suburban box of what Sarasota currently is, and bring value to the area and lessen the strained roadway’s with live-work-play lifestyle concept. It’s working elsewhere, so why not here? Blog
What do we look for when buying a house? What is in our mind? What is our dream house? What’s the main purpose of buying a new house? Is it the location, the amenities, friends and family or price? Or, all of the above.
How do we choose a neighborhood? We snap out of our dreams and struggle when chasing our dream house, maybe the house we find and love is not in the community we want to live, maybe we can’t find exactly what we want in the community we can afford or prefer. Maybe the house we find with the perfect size master bedroom we have dreamed on is in a very noisy street, or the property with the perfect location we have been wanting to live in doesn’t allow pets?
Do we have a budget and know exactly where to go when looking for a new house? Do we do our homework when hiring a real estate agent or mortgage broker? Do we let anyone influence us? House hunting can be a very stressful situation and sometimes even when we think we are ready, we discover we are not. Do we trust the experts or should we trust the homeowners who have already gone thru it?
Buying our new house or home it’s not an every day experience, we are planning years in our lives, so we can’t take it too easy. We are hoping that who ever we take advice from either homeowners or real estate pros can give us the best help we need and use.

Driving around Sarasota and finding more bikes…they are getting better and better, the creativity is amazing.
Living in Downtown Sarasota has so many benefits and advantages. The creativity of Downtown Sarasota is on almost every corner. Keep an eye out for all of the bikes you see around town. Every time I’m around town, I try to get a shot of the decorative bikes. I am noticing that they’re moved around from location to location. Here is one I took this week. Blocking traffic while I took this picture probably wasn’t ideal but the person behind me smiled in the end!
